Where MMA floors win

Food & Beverage Plants

Seamless floors that are easy to sanitize, installed over a weekend shutdown instead of a days-long epoxy cure. Ask the installer for the product's food-plant documentation.

Coolers & Freezers

Some MMA systems install well below freezing, where standard epoxy can't be used.

Commercial Kitchens

Slip-textured floors for cook lines and dish pits. Ask the installer what heat and hot water the system is rated for.

Docks, Ramps & Retail

Fast-turnaround overlays where closing the doors costs real money by the hour.

Acrylic, MMA — same floor, two names. MMA (methyl methacrylate) is the industrial acrylic resin. For commercial floors, a vendor pitching "acrylic flooring" almost always means this. Why choose it over epoxy? Each coat cures in about an hour at room temperature and still cures below freezing, just slower. A floor can go in Friday night and take forklifts Monday. The trade-off is strong odor during install, and installers vent and schedule around it. Ask every bidder about odor control and cure windows.
